The British Council is a world leader in education, impacting 580 million people globally. Their offices in over 100 countries also have significant impact in a range of cultural, artistic and economic development initiatives. Although they have a number of successful mobile applications and appreciate the importance of mobile learning to their work, they sought Jigsaw’s expertise to craft an overall mobile strategy for partnerships. We provided a high-level market analysis of how partnerships in the mobile sector can contribute to the British Council’s global activities in their three primary areas of engagement: ‘Arts’, ‘English and Exams’, and ‘Education and Society’.
The British Council approached Jigsaw to understand how they can better engage with the mobile sector to increase their impact, particularly in global education and English language teaching. Our expertise in mobile learning and global education, as well as our contacts with experts in mobile learning around the world, in both industry and academia, allowed us to address the needs of the British Council in depth, with suggestions for their future involvement and positioning in different markets, including a range of emerging economies.
“Jigsaw Consult provided a detailed look into the mobile telecommunications industry and a thorough analysis of partnership opportunities between the industry and the British Council. They demonstrated a deep knowledge of how to develop public-private partnerships in mobile telecommunications, as well as real expertise in understanding the complex industry, the key players, and its challenges." - Anna Langdell, Culture & Development Programme Manager at British Council.
Through interviewing 13 leaders in academia and industry, reviewing academic and grey literature, and analysing this data through a bespoke interactive positioning model, we were able to work with the British Council to consolidate their vision internally and develop a strategy for enhancing their impact in the mobile ecosystem.
"The final report and internal stakeholder workshop were delivered to the highest standard and we are very pleased with the result. The British Council plans to use Jigsaw’s research and advice to develop innovative partnerships with the mobile telecommunications industry to expand international opportunities for people in the UK and around the world and to build trust between them. It was a pleasure working together!” - Anna Langdell, Culture & Development Programme Manager at British Council.
