Katrina is an interdisciplinary researcher with a background in language education. Her research includes youth-centred, mixed-methods studies exploring pedagogical translation, intercultural communicative competence, and listening proficiency. Katrina holds a MEd in Research in Second Language Education from the University of Cambridge, and a MA in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Westminster. Katrina became involved in the International Development sector while working as a translator for various INGOs, and subsequently worked on humanitarian and sustainability projects in Latin America. An experienced teacher, Katrina has taught languages in schools and universities in the UK, Spain, and Japan. Katrina is particularly interested in participatory research methods, and increasing access to education in marginalised communities.
